What better way to bring back Summer memories with shortcake and apple pie! It’s getting hot here in Texas, some days it gets so hot it’s too hot to even go outside.
So today, I stayed in and baked……again. 🙂
When I’m not sewing, I love baking and experimenting with new recipes.
I have fresh strawberries on hand…. you can’t have Summer without strawberries, right?
but today I decided to do something different.
Instead of making Strawberry Shortcake I came up with the idea of making an Apple Pie Shortcake.
I mean, we all already know how good Strawberry Shortcake is
but, I wonder if you’ve ever tried Apple Pie Shortcake?
Then there’s the question, how do you like your shortcakes?
Some folks prefer biscuits.
Others like cake for their shortcakes.
How do you like your shortcakes?
I make my shortcakes using Bisquick mix, because it’s especially made for shortcakes,
and it’s the best ever shortcake mix I’ve ever had.
You can even have these Apple Pie Shortcakes in a gluten-free version, because
Bisquick has a gluten-free Bisquick mix.
All you do is make the shortcakes as directed , then form the dough into balls and roll them in sugar and cinnamon before baking them.
Once they are done, sandwich them between apple pie filling and cool whip.
You can add a scoop of vanilla ice cream if you wish,
and if you want to make your own apple pie filling, I am providing you with a recipe for that, too!
