Fun Kit-Tea Catnip Toys for your kitties! Each teabag is filled with catnap to keep your kitty(s) happy for hours! You will find your cat rolling and twisting on the floor, rubbing his face against them, and drooling everywhere! You can fill these with catnip or poly-fil for cat toys.
One of their favorites is cat nip. They love to roll around in it and eat it.
I have always had such a passion for cats. So much that I used to rescue them.
I worked with an animal rescue group that rescued dogs and I rescued the kittens.
Animal shelters would call me when they had kittens that were sick. They did not have the funds to treat them, so I took them in and got them back to good health, and found them good homes.
Sometimes I had 10 cats at a time. That’s every cat lovers dream! I had a new kitty to play with everyday.
These are fun Kit-Tea bags your cats will enjoy playing with for hours. Just be sure to watch them so that they don’t chew off the string.
What you will need:
Fabric
String
Catnip
Poly-fil
Felt
Cut your fabric pieces 2-1/2 inches by 2-1/2 inches.Fold them in half wrong sides together. Be sure wrong sides are together.
Cut your strings 4-1/2 inches long.
Go to your sewing machine and sew up one side and the top. Find the center at the top and tuck your string inside, leave a little bit sticking out so you can sew over it.
Still with wrong sides together, fold the open side about 1/4 of an inch. Iron hem so it will leave a crease. You will need the crease when you hand sew it closed.
When you turn it right side out it will look like this.
Fill with catnip and some poly-fil, then hand sew the opening closed.
To hand sew the opening closed, start by going up under the hem that’s folded down, coming out right on the seam line.
Pull your needle through.
Then come over to the other side and put your needle through where the hem crease is.
Pull your needle through.
Then go to the other side and put your needle through, right where the crease is. Continue doing this until you reached the end.
Cut a small piece of felt for the peice that goes on the end of the string. Go to your sewing machine and sew it on. Giving it a couple of stitches.Don’t forget to backstitch!
Here’s a few interesting facts about catnip.
- Catnip is a member of the mint family.
- Most cats react to catnip by rolling, flipping, rubbing, and sometimes zoning out.
- Some cats become hyperactive, some get aggressive, especially if you approach them. They like to protect their toys!
- Not all cats like catnip. It’s an inherited sensitivity, and if your cat didn’t get that gene, he simply won’t care about catnip.
- Did you know Catnip is not just for cats? It’s been grown in medicinal gardens for centuries for its sedative effect on humans.
- Catnip does lose its potency over time, so to keep yours fresh in an airtight container and putting it in the freezer.
- You can also grow your own catnip. Just look for it at stores like Walmart.

Ah, such a cute idea. Hope your having a great week! Thanks so much for sharing it at the party. Theresa
Thank you for the party, Theresa! Have a great week yourself! 🙂
Your little toys are wonderful and any cat would be delighted! Most importantly, THANK YOU for your rescue work on behalf of cats. I currently have six - all taken in from dire circumstances. Now they lay here in the sun, fat and happy, waiting for delivery of a toy like this!
I have been a Humane Society board member and volunteer in the past and now just support financially.
Awww, that’s so sweet of you to take in all those kitties! I love folks with a heart for kitties. I would have more if I had the room! Volunteering for the kitties is so rewarding, right?! 🙂
Those are really cute!! Any mint will do, not just catnip. My cat loves anything to do with any kind of mint. My parents had a cat that loved to smell and then lick my father’s hands after he put on a minty after shave. I have a mint plant in my garden and when my cat remembers, she lays in it and just loses her mind. Thankfully, she forgets for a while and then hits it again. OTherwise, it would be totally stripped of leaves if she visited every day!!
