I haven’t heard the latest news update of Hostess is still making Twinkies the ones I found were made by Little Debbie’s, but not the less, we can still get our Twinkies!   I’m thinking about writing a post on 101 Ways You Can Eat A Twinkie.  Doesn’t that sound good?!!  Here’s the first one and several will follow!  Honestly, I could eat the whole cake, forget dessert, this would by my meal!

Ingredients

  • 1 Box of Twinkies
  • 1 Box of Strawberry Ice Cream
  • 1 Container Cool Whip
  • 1 Bottle Strawberry Topping

Directions

  1. Line a loaf pan with Parchment paper.
  2. Line the bottom of the loaf pan with Twinkies.
  3. Add a layer of ice cream on top of Twinkies.
  4. Add a layer of Cool Whip on top of ice cream.

    Freeze over night.

To remove just lift the paper out of loaf pan and remove paper.  It comes right off.  Slice and add strawberry topping.

A few Twinkie facts:

  • Back in the day they sold 2 for .5 cents.
  • Their original cream used to be banana.
  • The name “Twinkie” was thought up by James Dewar. On the way to a marketing meeting, he saw a billboard advertising “Twinkle-Toes Shoes” and thought up the name “Twinkies”.
  • Among the artificial ingredients in Twinkies is cellulose gum, which gives Twinkie cream its smooth feel. Another place you can find this cellulose gum is in rocket fuel!
Does this make you want to make your own Twinkies?!  Here’s a link on how to make your own Twinkies.
